Through six targeted working groups, comprised of diverse experts and leaders in business, government, academia and health sectors from across the state, the New Jersey Nursing Initiative is working to transform nursing education and ensure that it has the well prepared, diverse nursing faculty it needs to educate nurses to meet the demand for health care in the 21st century.
Create Innovative Approaches to Increase Faculty Capacity
This working group focuses on increasing the efficiency and flexibility of nursing program delivery, and addresses faculty retention issues.
Make New Jersey Nurse Faculty a Preferred Career
This working group is helping expand awareness of and variety of faculty career opportunities in New Jersey as well as increasing career aspirations among nursing students to “go further.”
Lead Focused Policy Initiatives
By building consensus among nursing organizations, this working group is developing a prioritized advocacy agenda.
Increase Sustainable Funding
Success will be dependent upon creating new funding streams. This working group is developing creative solutions to address funding gaps, including federal, state, and corporate sources to address programmatic, faculty and student needs.
Build Local, Regional and Statewide Collaborations
Because the nurse faculty shortage is a problem that affects everyone in the state, this working group is reaching out to diverse audiences by developing and implementing a communications strategy; identifying and targeting key partners; and building a structure to sustain this effort.
Develop Creative Strategies to Increase Nurse Education Capacity
This working group is developing innovative solutions to address the nurse education capacity issue that otherwise hinders the qualified nurses entering the workforce.
