The Nursing Academic Resource Center of NJ is made possible by the generous support of the Partners Investing in Nursing's Future (PIN) program, a partnership of the Northwest Health Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to support the capacity, involvement and leadership of local foundations to advance the nursing profession in their own communities. The lead funder in this project, The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey, and our local matching funders, are addressing the nursing shortage by focusing supporting graduate nursing students. Along with The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey, our matching funders include: The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey, Johnson & Johnson Corporate Contributions, The F.M. Kirby Foundation, The Provident Bank Foundation, The Edward W. and Stella C. Van Houten Memorial Fund, and The Verizon Foundation of New Jersey.

The Program
Graduate level nurses are needed for advanced practice, executive leadership, administration, research and teaching. Because of the nurse faculty shortage, New Jersey nursing deans and administrators asked for a resource to help retain graduate students. The Nursing Academic Resource Center of New Jersey is an online educational tool designed to support nursing students during their first year of graduate study. Recognizing that successful graduate students possess rigorous writing and research skills, NJNI worked with Pearson Education to provide a skill-building program to remove potential barriers to degree completion.
After completing the initial diagnostic assessment tests, students using the Center are provided with a personalized study plan for improving their academic writing and research skills. Additionally, students can take advantage of a paper review service, receiving feedback from writing experts within 48 hours of submission. The Center's virtual platform allows students to conveniently access their work at any time or at any internet-enabled computer.
The Nursing Academic Resource Center of NJ adjusts to student and faculty needs, including providing support for ESL students and allowing faculty to provide direct written and/or audio feedback on submitted assignments. Benefits of the Nursing Academic Resource Center of NJ include:

The participating schools of nursing are: The College of Saint Elizabeth, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Felician College, Kean University, Monmouth University, Ramapo College, Rutgers University, Saint Peter's College, Seton Hall University, The College of New Jersey, Thomas Edison State College, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and William Paterson University.
