Health insurance exchange in works

New Jersey will receive a $7.7 million federal grant to help plan a state health insurance exchange, as mandated by federal health care reform, the Department of Health and Human Services announced Wednesday.
The exchanges, which should be ready to operate by Jan. 1, 2014, are expected to enable people who have neither employer-sponsored insurance nor Medicaid to comparison-shop for health coverage. Subsidies to purchase coverage are to be provided on a sliding scale to those who are eligible.
Under the law, the federal government will set up and operate the exchanges in states that do not do so themselves. Read More
